For my blog this month, I wanted to share my birthday celebration with you. My actual birthday is July 1 and my mom made sure I enjoyed it all month long. Staying home hasn’t been very fun these last few months because of COVID-19. Before July, I had not seen my cousins for a long time. So, for my birthday, we invited my four cousins to come to our house. We had to take precautions first and only invited my cousins that had been in quarantine for the last month like us. We had a blast!!
I chose my favorite food for us to eat which is nachos covered with ground turkey, jalapenos, cheese, sour cream, salsa and lettuce. When it was time for gifts, I received everything I wanted for my birthday (GameStop and Playstation gift cards, money and those nachos). I always wanted to be slimed like the kids on Nickelodeon so, I was also slimed with green slime.
Since it was a very hot day, we went outside in front of the house to get soaked with the water hose. This was a great option when you don’t have a swimming pool. My mom even had my sister create a limbo stick out of water, so eventually we had to get down as low as we could go under the water line without getting wet. It kind of worked but, we made sure to get wet throughout the game.
Let me tell you what was really cool about my birthday month. My mom had the gates to our community all-inclusive playground opened so I could film videos for Quantum® in my power wheelchair and play a little. It was just me and my sister. My mom disinfected the equipment when we arrived and then again when it was time to leave.
I’m so lucky that I can engage and enjoy my family and friends while elevated at iLevel® in my Quantum® Power Wheelchair. It’s great not having to constantly look up at everyone. It makes me feel even more included. I’m feeling great and my health has been doing fine. So glad I could enjoy my birthday month and do fun things, even during the pandemic.
