There’s a lot of features on my Quantum® Edge® 3 electric wheelchair that I like, so it’s kind of hard to specifically point out what I like the best, but here goes!
Electric Wheelchair Lights
It’s so important to have lights on your wheelchair, especially when it gets dark out and you live in the city, like I do. When you live in the city, you always have to pay attention to what everyone else is doing, especially when crossing intersections or parking lots. You always have to pay attention. With my LED fender lights, I can see and be seen by cars, cyclists and pedestrians.
SRS (Smooth Ride Suspension)
Quantum really stepped up their game with the new shock system. SRS helps reduce my head from jostling when driving over bumps and cracks in the concrete. The ride is softer, much smoother. Sometimes, you don’t even feel the bumps at all. I also like how my electric wheelchair can climb over smaller curbs, which helps me a lot when there aren’t curb cuts available in certain areas.
iLevel® Technology
Of course, iLevel® is a no brainer! It helps me in every way, every day of my life. I can actually reach the thermostat to turn up the heat when it’s way too cold in my home. With a spinal cord injury, it’s hard for my body to stay warm, so being able to independently adjust the thermostat is great. iLevel is also great for when I am painting or sketching. I can raise and lower the seat on my chair to different heights, especially if I am working on different projects at the same time. It’s also fun when you go out with friends. You can have a leisurely drink at a bar or go hang out on the back patio with some friends. You can be at the same level as everyone else and look them in the eye, instead of looking up at them.
Leg Laterals
Now that I have my leg laterals, help me a whole bunch, keeping me from slipping out of my chair. As a quadriplegic, vibrations and movement from riding in my wheelchair cause me to slide down. The leg laterals keep me in position, reducing the number of times I have to be pulled up by 20-30 percent.
