I am so used to using iLevel in my daily life that I would definitely feel the impact of not having it. In fact, I remember what it was like before having iLevel.
When I first started using a Quantum® Power Chair, iLevel® technology didn’t exist yet. At the time, it was very unusual for me because it was my first time in a power wheelchair after my spinal cord injury. I discovered all the things people go through while sitting in a wheelchair and the lack of accessibility in public areas. My first Q6 Edge® Power Chair did not have iLevel. Yet, it had top speeds of 5 or 6 mph while in the seated position and it made that much of a difference for me so I could exceed and excel in many things.
Interacting with People
I found it very hard to interact with people without iLevel. I always felt as if I was being talked down to during a conversation, at least, that’s how it feels. When somebody speaks down to you and you look up at them, it’s kind of weird sometimes. Eventually, you get used to it.
iLevel in the Home

Without iLevel, I couldn’t do things around my house or live by myself, for that matter. Today’s iLevel raises the seat of my Edge® 3 Power Wheelchair 12 inches, allowing me to drive while elevated, up to 4.5 mph. It’s just extraordinary and amazing in so many different ways. iLevel impacts people, giving them what they need to complete life activities. They can do so much while staying as comfortable as possible.
With iLevel technology, I can multitask. I can elevate and reach to change temperatures at my desire so I don’t have to wait for somebody to do it. If I need to move or push something over, I can do it independently. iLevel technology also comes in handy with my painting activities, as I can paint broader paintings.
iLevel Outside the Home
iLevel is good for after work activities, such as going out to restaurants with high-top tables or driving my power wheelchair right up to the bar while elevated. It’s great for hanging out with people and being at iLevel with friends. iLevel is great for going outside, taking a walk in the park on a nice day. You feel like you are part of the community. It just feels better to be at iLevel!
