My Goals for the New Year

I am so happy to say goodbye to 2021. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way. This year has been a tough one, especially for those that need more help than others. It’s been very hard with the economy and lifestyle changes because of COVID-19. This is the way things are now. As we begin 2022, here are some of my resolutions for the upcoming year.

Last year, I worked on changing my mindset and the way I look at things. This year, I want to better myself and start taking care of myself more, as opposed to just helping other people out all the time. I never realized until recently how much I’ve helped people, yet I never paid attention to myself. Now, I realize I need to give myself some self-care as well. So, I’m going to make sure I focus on my self-care as much as possible. I also want to continue being open-minded, stay humble and appreciative for everything that I have.

My next resolution is to try different medians in my art. I’m going to start painting on cotton fabrics, making one-off hoodies, jackets, purses, whatever I can get my hands on. I want to expand my knowledge of painting and learn how to apply myself to different mediums. Hopefully this year I can open up a pop-up shop and start selling some of this art. After six years of mouth painting, I feel more comfortable about my art and it’s great to see how far I’ve come. I need to work on having more confidence in my art, stop giving into my fears. As they say, you are your own worst critic.

I hope that everybody has a better year and I hope things with the pandemic start to clear up. I feel so antisocial and miss seeing people. I miss going to the Abilities Expos and meeting new people. I hope the expos come back soon. Those were good times!
