Obtaining iLevel Technology Shouldn’t be Luck

It’s officially March and if you are Irish, March is the official month of luck. Now, I’m not the biggest believer in luck. I believe things are either meant to be or they’re not. I believe that things happen for a reason and sometimes there are signs in life to help you feel special or grateful for the things that you have.

One of the things that I’m extremely grateful for is my power wheelchair. I had some issues with my chair recently, and it really made me appreciate the freedom that my power wheelchair brings me.

I know that there are wheelchair users who still do not have access to Quantum’s iLevel® technology. I have been very blessed to have access to this technology since the inception. I don’t know if you would call that luck, but I am very grateful for all the things that my power wheelchair allows me to do and the places I can go with it.

My goal is to continue to fight for the rights of individuals with disabilities. Everyone who has a disability and needs a power chair should have access to iLevel. You shouldn’t be lucky to have access to proper medical equipment that allows you to live comfortably and independently. If you qualify for a power chair, iLevel technology should be a right.

It’s hard enough when you have a disability. Let’s face it: it stinks to use a power chair. My hope for the future is that insurers will cover the cost of iLevel technology for everyone, so that going forward, you won’t be “lucky enough” to obtain this assistive technology. You’ll just have it automatically.
