Experience an Abilities Expo

Have you ever been to an Abilities Expo?  If not, you should plan to attend. You can find one close to a city near you, I promise that you will not be disappointed.  The Abilities Expos feature amazing products and services for people who have disabilities in one place in many different cities. There are seven shows you can attend though 2021.

Are you a gamer, a dancer or are you looking for new features for your wheelchair?  Then the Abilities Expo is the place to go.  I promise you will roll or walk away with a few new friends who will help you find the new innovations in technology or services that will enhance your life.

So, let’s talk technology. The Abilities Expo is where you will find innovative products to help you in your daily life. For fingernail trimming, consider the Clip Different Pro. This product helps you safely and effectively trim your fingernails with the simple touch of a button and it allows you to use only one hand to both trim and operate it. What a cool product to find for people who may find it difficult trimming their fingernails.  So take time at each booth, so you do not miss an innovative new product.

There are hundreds of exhibitors featured where you can also sign up for a workshop for free. You can learn about travel or find out how to learn self-defense at any expo. Every Abilities Expo is your chance to learn how to rock the dance floor, or just have fun. You can learn and attend a class in hip hop, ballroom, Latin, Zumba, ballet or line dancing and then dance your way. If you spend the entire day at the expo, you will find so many interesting workshops or products that will change your life.

One of my favorite booths that is at every show is our Quantum® Pit Stop. This is where many people stop to get much-needed wheelchair repairs or just some technical advice from our Quantum technicians.  Our techs in the Pit Stop are my heroes. They help our consumers with installing new wheels or fixing problems they have with their mobility products. if you have a Quantum product, you should stop by and meet these amazing people.

I love attending the Abilities Expo because it has been part of my life for over twelve years.  It is where I can see my current friends who have their exhibits or meet new ones. The people who come to the show often meet me and it is a great time to catch up, like when I caught up with these beautiful friends Andrew and Jody Yarborough.

Me with Andrew and Jody Yarborough

At the San Mateo Abilities Expo in October, I had a great time meeting Ms. Wheelchair America Hillary Muehlberger, and star of the show “Speechless,” Micah Fowler.

Like I said, it is a place where friends meet, like Molly Hale. Molly and I first met at “Roll on Capitol Hill” and are fellow advocates helping raise awareness for complex rehab technology. Molly and her husband are fierce and passionate advocates and I so honored to call them my friends.  So, come one and all to experience the Abilities Expo. You may meet people who will help bring the dance, or new technology to you, or find a friend for life.
