My Search for an Apartment Has Begun

A new year means new goals and I’m very excited for my number one goal for 2022. I am going to look for my very first apartment. I am looking for either a studio or a one-bedroom apartment. There are a few reasons why I’m planning to do this. Ever since college, I’ve always wanted to live on my own. Although my Quantum Edge 3 Power Wheelchair with iLevel gives me a lot of independence, I want to experience the world on my own because I’ve been living in my parents’ house for 23 years of my life. I have never experienced the world without my parents. It’s time for me to spread my wings and fly out of the nest.

I’m getting help with searching for my very first apartment. There is a program that helps people with special needs find housing. They help find homes that are within a certain budget and wheelchair accessible for those like me who use power chairs. The cost for the apartment will depend on the location and how much money the program will offer to help cover my cost of rent. I will pay the remaining amount of rent with the money that I earn from my job. Although, I’ll pay for my rent electronically since I am unable to write a check independently.
